Academic Freedom — Board acknowledges appropriateness of assuring academic freedom to teachers. Teachers authorized to deviate from established curriculum provided material appropriate for students' ability/maturity and presented objectively.

This section shall not be construed as authorizing any teacher to deviate from established curriculum, nor to present any material inappropriate for the students' ability and/or maturity, or present any material in other than an objective manner.

Arbitration Binding — binding arbitration
If the grievance is not settled at Step Three, the Association may submit the grievance to binding arbitration under the Voluntary Labor Arbitration Rules of the AAA, which shall act as the administrator of the proceeding.

Base Salary Increase Yr1 — Employees in excess of six hours student contact compensated at rate of 0.00579% of base salary extended to full-time equivalency
Certificated employees assigned student contact time in excess of six (6) hours per day shall be compensated at a rate of .00579% of their base salary extended to full-time equivalency for each hour worked in excess of six (6) hours of student contact per day.

In the event a certificated employee is required to work in excess of the regular work week, previously prescribed in subsection 1 above, such certificated employee will be paid at a rate of .00772% of their base salary extended to full-time equivalency for each hour worked in excess of forty (40) hours per week.

Base Salary Increase Yr3 — CPI-All-Urban Consumers increase with minimum 3% and maximum 5%
During the 2025-26 school year, each bargaining unit member shall receive an increase based on the 2024 annual percentage increase to the CPI-All-Urban Consumers with a minimum increase of 3% and a maximum increase of 5%.

Bereavement Days — Three (3) days of absence due to death in immediate family or household
A teacher and full-time support staff shall be granted up to three (3) days of absence due to a death in the immediate family or household, defined by Section 24-6 of the School Code, without loss of salary or sick leave benefits.

Contract Days Teacher — Vacation for 12-month employees: 10 vacation days at beginning of employment (if start July 1); pro-rated if start other date; maximum 15 days; employees with 20+ years service receive additional 5 days effective year 20
New 12-month employees will receive 10 vacation days at the beginning of their employment, provided they start on July 1st of a fiscal year. Following fiscal years, one day of vacation for each additional year of employment will be added, up to a maximum of 15 days. Employees with 20 or more years of service shall receive an additional 5 days of vacation effective July 1 of their 20th year of continuous employment for a maximum of 20 vacation days

Dental Coverage — Group dental insurance coverage provided; policy and carrier selected by the Board
Premiums for group dental insurance, the policy and carrier shall be selected by the Board.

Dues Deduction — Board shall deduct from each employee's pay the dues of the Association provided Board has received an authorization form. Deduction effective 30 calendar days after receipt of authorization; termination effective 30 days after receipt of revocation.

During the 2023-2024 school year, the Board shall contribute $13,225.17 towards employee health, employee and dependent dental, employee and dependent vision care.

Off Schedule Bonus Yr1 — One-time market adjustment of $5,000 for teachers hired and working for DAOES prior to 2018-2019 school year

Personnel File Inspection — Employee has right to inspect personnel file at any reasonable time during normal business hours. No material shall be permanently removed without consent of Board. Only one file per employee.
A personnel file of all evaluative materials relating to an employee shall be maintained in the Executive Director's administrative office. The employee shall have the right to inspect such file at any reasonable time during normal business hours, provided such inspection shall not interfere with any of the employee's duties.

Sick Leave Max Days — Sick leave accumulates to maximum of 340 days at full pay
If any such employee does not use the full amount of annual sick leave thus allowed, the unused amount shall be allowed to accumulate to 340 days, at full pay.

Staff Management Meetings — Parties agree to meet within 30 calendar days of written notice requesting such meeting. Meeting outside normal teacher workday with no more than 3 persons each as representatives.
The parties therefore agree to meet within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of a written notice from one party requesting such meeting, which request shall include a proposed agenda for such meeting. Such meetings shall be in addition to negotiations sessions.
