The Union may submit the grievance to binding arbitration under the Voluntary Labor Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). The Arbitrator's decision shall be binding upon the parties.

Certified Staff may use two (2) days, per incidence of death, per work year, for leave connected with the death of an 'Immediate Family' member of the Employee without deduction from sick leave.

Child Care Leave Max Duration — Child care leave shall be for a period of up to one full semester and any fraction of another semester. In summer months, may be for one full year
Child care leave shall be for a period of up to one full semester and any fraction of another semester. This fractional part of the semester must begin at the beginning of said leave. In the event, however, that the child care leave commences in summer months such leave may be for a period of one full year.

Each Certified Staff will receive an allowance of $400 for supplies annually.

Contract Days Teacher — Training shall be provided for teacher assistants
Training shall be provided for teacher assistants to ensure they properly meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of the students with whom they are assigned to work.

Employee Premium Share Pct — Board contribution for health insurance premium
The Board shall contribute 90% of the annual single premium rate for single or family coverage for purchase of said health and dental insurance for current full time employees.

Evaluation Cycle Years — Tenured Certified Staff who have received a rating of Proficient or Excellent will be evaluated every three years unless at least 60 calendar days notice is provided

Instructional Minutes Day — Work day shall not be less than 7.5 hours daily, inclusive of 7-hour work day and 30 minute duty free lunch

Off Schedule Bonus Yr1 — Recruitment Sign-On Bonus of $3,000 in two installments
Teacher assistants newly employed by SOWIC during the term of this contract shall be paid a signing bonus of $3000 in two installments: $1500 by June 30 after completion of one full school term; $1500 after completion of second consecutive term.

Any full-time Certified Staff eligible to retire under TRS, with the required amount of service with SOWIC, for whom the Board is not required to pay any TRS penalty.

If a reduction in force is necessary, the teacher assistant with the least seniority will be dismissed first. Remaining teacher assistants may be transferred to meet the needs of SOWIC.

Unused sick leave will accumulate to a total of two hundred forty (240) days excluding the annual sick leave allotment.

In the event that a teacher assistant holding a valid teacher's or substitute teacher's license substitutes for a regular teacher, the teacher assistant shall be compensated at the teacher assistant's regular hourly rate plus $5.00 per hour.
