Arbitration Binding — Binding arbitration available at fifth step; arbitrator selected by parties within 10 days or by AAA/FCMS; decision is binding
The arbitration proceeding shall be conducted by an arbitrator to be selected by the two parties within ten (10) days after said notice is given. If the parties fail to reach agreement on an arbitrator within ten (10) days, the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FCMS) will be requested to provide an arbitrator under their rules. The decision of the arbitrator shall be binding.

Each ESP shall be entitled to bereavement leave to a maximum of five (5) days per death, for the death of a parent, spouse, child, stepchildren, sibling, stepparent, and parent-in-laws.

Dues Deduction — Board shall deduct Association membership dues from employee pay with written authorization; continues year to year unless revoked in writing; terminates with employment
The Board shall deduct from the pay of each unit member membership dues of the Association and its affiliates, provided that at the time of such deduction there is in possession of the Board a written authorization for dues deduction voluntarily executed by the employee.

Evaluation Cycle Years — Annual evaluation for employees hired on or before March 1
All employees hired on or before March 1 shall be evaluated annually. Failure to evaluate shall not prevent the Employer from disciplining, releasing a probationary employee, or terminating a non-probationary Employee for just cause.

Prekindergarten through Grade 5 teachers shall be entitled to a thirty (30) minutes duty free lunch and no less than thirty (30) continuous minutes of duty-free preparation time per day.

Internal Substitution Pay — Teacher receives $35.00 per class period for substituting within building or accepting students from another class due to teacher absence
Any teacher who substitutes in a class which requires him/her to forfeit a preparation period or who accepts students from another class into his/her class because of the absence of another teacher shall be compensated at a rate of $35.00 per class period.

Any educational support professional with twenty-five (25) or more cumulative full-time years of service, and who shall be eligible to retire based on IMRF guidelines and submits notice of intent to retire to Superintendent at least 3 months in advance, shall be eligible to receive a lump sum retirement incentive of $5000.

Each year of the contract, the Board shall grant two (2) days of personal leave without loss of pay. If not used, then two (2) days shall accumulate to a maximum of four (4) days.

Post Retirement Check — Retired teachers receive post-retirement check 60 days after final paycheck
Teachers will receive a post-retirement check sixty (60) days after their last regular paycheck from the district. This payment shall not be made if by doing so the District would incur a TRS penalty.

Unused sick leave shall accumulate up to two hundred and forty (240) days. Sick leave shall be interpreted to mean personal illness, quarantine at home, or illness or death in the immediate family or household.

Each step on the salary schedule (as indicated by a letter) represents an increase of $1500 and each lane on the salary schedule represents an increase of $1000.
